THE DEVASTATED mum of missing Corrie McKeague branded the RAF gunner a “social hand grenade” who would get into a stranger’s car and put himself at risk.

Nicola Urquhart admitted Corrie, 23, thought he could “handle himself” in a frank confession during a Facebook Live question and answer session watched by more than 37,000 people.

Corrie of Dunfermline, disappeared in Suffolk three months ago

Nicola Urquhart confessed beloved Corrie, 23, would put himself at risk as he thought he could “handle himself”

Nicola, 47, of Dunfermline, Fife, spoke out on Wednesday night three months after Corrie disappeared after a night out.

She said: “He’s not so much a social butterfly, more a social hand grenade who absolutely lives for the moment.

“He will make choices and decisions that are sometimes reckless that other people might not.

“Would he get into a stranger’s car? Yes. Would he go to a stranger’s house that he’s never met before that he’s met on a social dating site? Yes.

“He would put himself at risk because Corrie believed he could handle himself.”

Corrie was last seen alone on CCTV at 3.25am after leaving a nightclub

Gunner and medic Corrie, of II Squadron RAF Regiment, was last seen in Bury St Edmunds town centre, Suffolk, at 3.25am on September 24.

Corrie, of RAF Honington, was wearing a pink Ralph Lauren shirt when he disappeared.

Nicola told Facebook users she’d been stunned after people questioned whether he was gay because of the colour of his shirt.

She told the BBC: “I can honestly say hand on heart if he was gay he would be the most fabulously gay man walking.

“He would tell anyone. He’s extremely confident in his own sexuality. He classes himself as not gay.

“Is he attractive to other men? Yes. Does he like that attention? Yes, but he is not gay.”

She also urged members to stop suggesting psychics or mediums for her to get in touch with.

The police family liaison officer added: “If I want one I will find one that I find appropriate for me. I do not want anybody contacting me.

“If anyone contacts me saying they are one, they will be blocked because I don’t think that’s appropriate.

Earlier this week we told how movie star Tom Hardy had offered his support to helping finding Corrie after the family appealed for help.

The Mad Max actor posted a video called Please help us find Corrie McKeague on Facebook.
